Why This Role Matters

MissionHires is seeking a skilled VDC Detailer on behalf of a company to provide advanced detailing, BIM modeling, and MEP coordination support for major mechanical construction projects. This role creates accurate shop drawings and equipment room layouts, supports clash detection and document control, collaborates with project teams to resolve design issues, and leads the workflow and development of junior detailers.

How You'll Contribute
  • Create advanced shop drawings for major mechanical systems on construction projects.
  • Develop equipment room layouts and detailed drawings.
  • Produce and maintain advanced 3D BIM models for mechanical systems.
  • Perform and support MEP coordination and clash detection to reduce potential construction errors, rework, time, and costs.
  • Receive, log, track, expedite, distribute, and maintain shop drawings, RFIs, and other project documentation.
  • Maintain organized document-control protocols so project information can be easily retrieved and understood by project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with design and build teams to identify and resolve design flaws before they affect construction.
  • Read, interpret, and apply construction documents to detailing and coordination work.
  • Attend and participate in construction, coordination, and other project meetings as required.
  • Lead, delegate work to, train, coach, and provide performance feedback to less experienced detailers.
  • Direct the workflow of junior detailers to support project schedules and quality standards.

What Makes You a Great Fit
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a trade apprenticeship program or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of construction craft practices, with current knowledge of HVAC, sheet metal trades, and field installation methods.
  • Experience creating mechanical shop drawings, equipment room layouts, and detailed construction documentation.
  • Experience with BIM-based 3D modeling and MEP coordination.
  • Proficiency with Navisworks, Revit, and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic construction documents.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write, edit, and proofread content.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to coordinate multiple project activities.
  • Ability to train, coach, delegate to, and direct the workflow of less experienced detailers.
