Morton is seeking a Project Manager, Risk & Financial Support in North Chesterfield, VA. This role supports tier 1 Client IT modernization projects by managing risk and issue tracking while providing financial oversight, including budget tracking, spend plan updates, and reporting. Ideal candidates combine PMP-certified project management expertise with strong analytical skills and proficiency in MS Project, Excel, SharePoint, and portfolio management tools.

How You'll Contribute

  • Develop subject matter expertise via formal/informal training and knowledge transfer with key project team members to enhance risk management value.
  • Leverage expertise and curiosity to proactively identify risks/issues and define corresponding mitigation plans.
  • Partner with Project Managers to identify, track, and mitigate risks across the project lifecycle; escalate before thresholds are exceeded.
  • Solicit, gather, document, and actively manage risks and issues with a regular cadence across project phases, milestones, and stage gates.
  • Propose mitigation strategies and secure stakeholder buy-in where appropriate.
  • Attend project status meetings, scrum readouts, and key bureau sessions to capture risks and issues in real time.
  • Maintain a comprehensive risk and issue register, including probability, impact, mitigation strategies, and cost implications.
  • Differentiate between internal risks (managed within the project) and external risks impacting the project.
  • Deliver concise and complete monthly risk readouts aligned with Project Manager expectations.
  • Support financial oversight activities, including budget tracking, spend plan updates, and reporting for large-scale IT modernization projects.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Information Systems, or related field (preferred).

  • 3–5 years of experience in project management support, risk management, financial analysis, or IT project delivery.

  • PMP certification (required).

  • Strong proficiency with MS Project, Excel, SharePoint, and Planview or comparable portfolio management tools.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to balance detail orientation with high-level leadership summaries.
