Why This Role Matters

MissionHires, on behalf of a leading construction contractor, is seeking a General Foreman - Plumbing and Piping to lead field crews, drive a proactive safety culture, uphold quality standards, and deliver to production schedules. This hands-on role oversees daily planning, task assignment, apprentice development, and inter-trade coordination while maintaining documentation, timekeeping, and compliance with OSHA and company procedures. The ideal candidate is a seasoned trades professional with strong leadership, scheduling, and communication skills, able to mentor teams, solve problems on-site, and partner closely with the superintendent to meet project goals.

How You'll Contribute
  • Facilitate and champion a safe work culture and ensure fit-for-work compliance daily
  • Conduct weekly toolbox talks and answer technical safety questions (or escalate to competent authority)
  • Participate in incident investigations; complete incident and safety reports within required timeframes
  • Maintain a consistently clean, safe, and organized work area
  • Orient new crew members to the job and assess crew competency and capability
  • Establish quality and productivity benchmarks; set and maintain work standards and expectations
  • Assign individual and crew tasks; translate work requirements into prioritized daily/weekly plans
  • Coordinate on-the-job training for apprentices and facilitate journeyman-led mentoring
  • Promote teamwork, morale, and productivity; perform related craftwork alongside crew
  • Review project plans and schedules to ensure daily/weekly activities meet production goals
  • Verify availability and completeness of required tools and materials; advise on shortages
  • Identify plan/schedule deficiencies and communicate them to appropriate stakeholders
  • Adjust project activities and task schedules to meet production milestones
  • Resolve or escalate scheduling conflicts with other crews and contractors
  • Ensure completed work meets specifications, plans/blueprints, and quality standards
  • Inspect completed work and drive timely resolution of issues; recommend process improvements
  • Prepare required reports and maintain a foreman’s log/diary
  • Ensure daily Task Hazard Analysis (THA) is performed and recorded before work begins
  • Assist superintendent with production tracking, work progress, and quality reports
  • Maintain accurate daily timekeeping records, documenting late starts, early outs, and absences
  • Recommend personnel actions including hiring, promotions, and discipline
  • Perform additional assignments as requested or needed

What Makes You a Great Fit
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ experience as a qualified tradesperson in plumbing/piping
  • Familiarity with other construction trades and crafts
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and company safety policies/procedures
  • OSHA-30 certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with proven crew management experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems, resolve conflicts, and manage workplace diversity
  • Strong planning and scheduling capabilities with experience meeting production goals
  • Ability to handle administrative duties, including completion of required documents and reports
  • Proficiency with computers and relevant jobsite technology
  • Ability to read and interpret plans/blueprints and ensure work to specification
  • An active Texas Journeyman Plumber license may be required for performing and supervising field work
  • Employment contingent upon active membership in the appropriate local trade union
