Why This Role Matters

MissionHires, on behalf of a leading contractor, is seeking an experienced Plumbing/Piping Foreman to lead field crews on commercial/industrial projects in Texas. The ideal candidate is a safety-first, hands-on leader who can plan work, mentor apprentices, enforce quality standards, coordinate schedules and materials, and partner closely with superintendents to meet production goals. Union membership is required.

How You'll Contribute
  • Facilitate and model a safe work culture; ensure crew fitness for duty daily
  • Conduct weekly toolbox talks and answer or escalate technical safety questions
  • Participate in incident investigations; complete safety/incident reports on time
  • Maintain a consistently clean, safe, and organized work area
  • Orient new crew members to jobsite procedures and expectations
  • Assess crew competency; set benchmarks for quality and productivity
  • Assign individual and crew tasks and manage daily priorities
  • Coordinate OJT for apprentices and facilitate journeyman mentoring
  • Set and maintain work standards; communicate behavioral expectations to sustain morale and productivity
  • Promote teamwork and perform craftwork alongside the crew
  • Interpret project plans/schedules; align daily/weekly activities to production goals
  • Verify tools, equipment, and materials are available and complete for planned work
  • Identify plan/schedule gaps and communicate needs and deficiencies to appropriate parties
  • Translate general requirements into actionable task plans and assignments
  • Review and adjust activities to meet established production schedules
  • Notify superintendent of equipment and material shortages
  • Collaborate with crew to overcome work challenges
  • Resolve or escalate scheduling conflicts with other crews/contractors
  • Ensure completed work meets specifications, plans/blueprints, and quality standards
  • Inspect work and drive timely resolution of deficiencies; recommend process improvements
  • Prepare required reports and maintain a foreman’s log/diary
  • Ensure daily Task Hazard Analyses (THA) are performed and documented before work begins
  • Assist superintendent with tracking production, progress, and completing quality reports
  • Maintain accurate daily timekeeping; document late starts, early outs, and absences
  • Recommend personnel actions, including hiring, promotions, and discipline
  • Perform additional assignments as requested

What Makes You a Great Fit
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ experience as a qualified tradesperson in plumbing/piping
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with proven crew management experience
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and company safety policies/procedures; OSHA-30 required or obtained within 6 months of hire
  • Familiarity with other construction trades and crafts
  • Strong planning, scheduling, and organizational skills
  • Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities
  • Ability to manage differences and diversity in the workplace
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle administrative duties (reports, logs, documentation, timekeeping)
  • Effective use of computers and job-related technology
  • Ability to read/interpret plans, blueprints, and specifications
  • Active Texas Journeyman Plumber license may be required for those performing/supervising plumbing work
  • Employment contingent upon active membership in the appropriate local trade union
