Why This Role Matters

MissionHires seeks a Director of Operations - Restoration to lead a business group and drive operational excellence, standardize best practices, and achieve revenue and utilization goals. This strategic leader will mentor teams, oversee complex and quick-turn projects, optimize scheduling and resources, ensure quality deliverables and timely invoicing, and foster strong client relationships while anticipating market changes and co-leading annual planning.

How You'll Contribute

  • Lead, train, mentor, and develop team members; conduct monthly 1:1s and act as PM on select projects
  • Set tone for core values, best practices, and high-performance standards across the business group
  • Oversee Business Operations Specialist activities (contract updates, internal contract meetings, client outreach)
  • Coordinate successful delivery of both quick turnaround and complex, long-cycle projects
  • Schedule and deploy resources to meet utilization and revenue targets; manage weekly 2-Week Lookahead
  • Review consultant and specialist deliverables for content, consistency, compliance, and on-time delivery
  • Partner with other team leaders to balance workloads and fill scheduling gaps
  • Provide technical assistance and staffing inputs for proposals to Market Development
  • Deliver periodic progress reports, metrics, and updates (Ops-huddle biweekly; Monthly Town Hall ownership)
  • Create draft and final invoices per accounting timelines; monitor A/R and support client outreach for payments
  • Provide high-touch client engagement on strategic or challenging projects; build and expand client relationships
  • Anticipate and communicate client, market, and industry changes; develop mitigation/optimization plans
  • Generate revenue projections and manage resources, schedules, and backlog to targets
  • Facilitate monthly progress tracking; review progress to goals and staffing levels
  • Co-lead annual planning for revenue and margin targets, market/service-line expansion, resources/training, and team development
  • Participate in company-wide initiatives and contribute to standardization across departments

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering/Architecture-related discipline
  • 8+ years of experience in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or Project Management in design, construction, or forensics
  • 2+ years of business unit leadership with staff management, revenue ownership, growth strategy, hiring/firing, and business development responsibilities
  • PE or AIA license desired
  • Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end design and construction processes
  • Practical understanding of building structures and ability to read/interpret drawings
  • Proven ability to coach, develop, and mentor teams and to accept coaching/mentorship
  • Strong technical competence with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to build rapport and credibility with clients, coworkers, and subcontractors
  • High financial acumen with experience in projections, invoicing, and A/R follow-up
  • Demonstrated judgment, discretion, and decision-making in complex situations
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and large volumes of information with flexibility and responsiveness
  • Commitment to quality, organization, and meticulous attention to detail
  • Anticipates and plans for evolving client needs, new technologies, and industry conditions
