Why This Role Matters

MissionHires is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Detailer to support major mechanical construction projects through advanced shop drawing production, BIM modeling, MEP coordination, and construction-document management. This role will collaborate with design and build teams to identify and resolve clashes, improve installation accuracy, and help lead and develop junior detailers.

How You'll Contribute
  • Create advanced shop drawings for major mechanical and sheet metal systems on construction projects.
  • Develop equipment room layouts and detailed installation drawings.
  • Produce and maintain advanced 3D BIM models using Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and related tools.
  • Perform clash detection and coordinate with project stakeholders to reduce errors, rework, and project costs.
  • Provide MEP coordination across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines.
  • Receive, log, track, expedite, distribute, and maintain shop drawings, RFIs, and other project documentation.
  • Maintain organized document-control protocols so project information can be easily retrieved and understood by others.
  • Collaborate with design and construction teams to identify and eliminate constructability issues and design flaws.
  • Attend and participate in construction meetings and other project coordination meetings as required.
  • Lead, delegate work to, and direct the workflow of less experienced detailers.
  • Provide coaching, training, performance feedback, and technical guidance to junior detailers.

What Makes You a Great Fit
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a trade apprenticeship program or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of the sheet metal trade, HVAC systems, and field installation methods.
  • Experience creating shop drawings and coordinating mechanical construction work.
  • Proficiency with Navisworks, Revit, and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to create and coordinate advanced 3D BIM models.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of MEP coordination and clash-detection processes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to write, edit, and proofread project-related documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple project requirements and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, coach, and direct less experienced detailers.
