Director of Laboratory Operations - Deland, Florida

An established clinical laboratory in Central Florida is seeking a hands-on, strategic leader to take on the role of Director of Laboratory Operations. In this position, you'll have the opportunity to shape the future of one of the region’s busiest labs, developing talent, enhancing operational excellence, and ensuring consistent compliance with clinical laboratory standards. • Oversee daily laboratory operations with a focus on strategic direction and technical excellence.
• Ensure compliance with CAP, federal, and state laboratory regulations.
• Lead and support cross-site transitions of systems, platforms, or technology upgrades.
• Champion staff development by building strong leaders and succession pipelines.
• Drive quality improvement and accountability through collaboration and data analysis.
• Promote a culture of inclusion, engagement, and continuous development.
• Ensure onboarding, training, and performance evaluation processes are effectively implemented.
• Handle operational challenges and client escalations with professionalism and efficiency.

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related scientific field.
• Valid medical technologist certification (ASCP, AMT, AAB, or equivalent).
• 10+ years of recent experience in Microbiology, including leadership roles.
• Florida Supervisor License in Microbiology or Generalist (or willingness to obtain upon relocation).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Master’s degree in a scientific or business discipline is a plus.
