Why This Role Matters

MissionHires is seeking a Director of Enterprise Risk & Insurance to lead our end-to-end risk and insurance strategy from our San Francisco Bay Area headquarters (primarily on-site). You will design and administer comprehensive insurance programs, manage broker/carrier relationships, drive loss prevention and claims excellence, and embed practical risk insights into strategic planning. This senior leader will be the primary external and internal point of contact for risk, insurance, and recovery matters, advancing MissionHires’ commitment to innovation, impact, and sustainable growth.

How You'll Contribute

  • Shape and administer comprehensive enterprise insurance strategies across core coverages, including evaluation of self-funded or alternative risk mechanisms
  • Own broker, insurer, TPA, and claims service provider relationships to secure favorable terms, manage renewals, and resolve complex placement or claims issues
  • Lead incident and claims reviews with Legal, Operations, and People/Workforce teams to reduce impact and drive effective resolutions
  • Track and analyze loss data, market dynamics, and regulatory changes to strengthen prevention measures and optimize risk transfer/retention
  • Develop and deliver training and guidance on risk practices, claims procedures, and compliance requirements to internal stakeholders
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external discussions on insurance strategy, claims recovery, and negotiations
  • Integrate practical risk insights into business planning and decision-making to support company objectives and financial resilience
  • Travel occasionally for key meetings, site evaluations, carrier/broker negotiations, and partner engagements

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in corporate risk management, insurance program leadership, claims management, or closely related fields
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or related discipline preferred, or equivalent demonstrated expertise
  • Proven expertise overseeing claims, implementing loss control initiatives, and coordinating with external vendors and TPAs
  • Experience with alternative risk financing and/or self-insured programs strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, influence senior stakeholders, and mentor teams
  • Strong analytical skills with a track record of leveraging loss data and market insights to improve risk outcomes
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to manage carriers, brokers, and internal executive stakeholders
  • Willingness to work primarily on-site in the San Francisco Bay Area and travel as needed
