MissionHires is partnering with a leading utility EPC to hire a Construction Project Manager for Transmission & Distribution (T&D) projects in Houston, TX. This role oversees field execution from pre-construction through commissioning and warranty, driving safety, quality, schedule, cost, contracts, and stakeholder management across single or multiple EPC/CM projects. Salary: $120k–$160k. Travel: up to 100%.

How You'll Contribute

  • Lead day-to-day construction activities across EPC/CM/T&D projects from pre-construction through closeout and warranty
  • Promote and manage project Safety & Health performance for staff and subcontractors; conduct safety audits
  • Plan, schedule, estimate, and control costs; establish critical project objectives and work breakdown structures
  • Develop and manage client relationships; serve as primary interface for proposals and project matters
  • Participate in internal/external risk reviews; coordinate with Legal as needed
  • Negotiate prime contracts, CM contracts, subcontracts, change orders, and manage contract administration
  • Implement assigned sections of the Project Execution Plan including construction, QA, Safety & Health, subcontracting, staffing, and procurement
  • Build construction staffing plans; train, mentor, and coordinate multidisciplinary and field teams
  • Oversee site layout, mobilization/demobilization planning and execution
  • Secure and verify all applicable project permits and compliance requirements
  • Lead downstream RFP/bid process: bidder development, prequalification, scope development, evaluation, award, and selection
  • Review/approve internal and external reporting: budgets, cash flow forecasts, status updates; present to PM/Program Manager and executives
  • Coordinate with engineering to align deliverables with schedule and project requirements
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change management, documentation, claims mitigation, and contract closeout
  • Oversee invoicing for prime, subcontractor, and client contractor billings
  • Coordinate commissioning and startup with client, suppliers, and internal teams
  • Implement and audit project documentation standards and retention
  • Ensure insurance, taxes/duties, licensure, and bonding requirements are confirmed for all parties
  • Conduct project safety, quality, progress, and financial audits/assessments; manage non-conformance reporting
  • Set up and close out projects; track field progress; manage schedule, earned value, and cost metrics
  • Oversee materials receiving, inventory control, storage, and logistics
  • Verify subcontractor and client contractor compliance with contracts, safety, quality, and schedule
  • Manage turnover documentation, warranty administration, and recordkeeping
  • Engage with governmental, industry, and public stakeholders on project-related matters
  • Mentor interns, coordinators, craft supervision, and assistant PMs; provide performance feedback
  • Manage community and building trades relationships; implement project labor agreements where required
  • Onboard craft/field supervision; maintain accurate craft classifications and progression records
  • Manage composite crew rates, labor burdens, install unit rates, staffing, and equipment inventories
  • Drive craft competency, training, advancement, and productivity improvements
  • Comply with company policies, standards, and travel requirements; may be assigned to project sites

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent applicable experience
  • 7+ years of relevant construction project management experience (utility T&D or similar EPC/CM preferred)
  • Proven experience managing safety, quality, schedule, cost control, and contracts on active construction sites
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Experience with document control, scheduling, cost control, and project management software (preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to manage large workloads and multi-task in a fast-paced environment across multiple concurrent projects
  • Experience on construction project sites or program management in sectors such as aviation, commercial, energy, government, manufacturing, oil & gas, process, transportation, transmission & distribution, or water (preferred)
  • Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving requirements
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 100% and work on project sites as required
