MissionHires' client is seeking a passionate and experienced Water Treatment Department Manager to lead and grow a talented engineering team for a leading architecture, engineering, and construction management firm. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for overseeing water treatment projects, mentoring technical professionals, and driving innovation in water and wastewater solutions. Oversee the growth, development, and day-to-day management of a team of 5–10 water system engineering professionals
Become a trusted advisor to established water clients and support the sales team in the development and securing of new project opportunities
Diagnose, analyze, and implement treatment process improvements
Optimize treatment plant operations, including pretreatment, filtration, chemical disinfection, residuals, energy systems, and water storage
Conduct asset evaluations and support long-term capital planning strategies
Perform hydraulic modeling of treatment system processes and storage systems
Provide supplemental expertise to utility staff during critical operational situations
Represent the Water Group internally to corporate management
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Chemical, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field (required)
Current Professional Engineer (PE) license (required)
10+ years of experience in water treatment design and project management
Proven leadership, team management, and mentoring experience within engineering teams
Proficiency in MS Office, with working knowledge of drafting software (CAD)
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 20%, including to job sites and client meetings; occasional overnight travel required
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Capable of working independently with minimal supervision
