MissionHires is seeking a Structural Engineer to lead and execute structural analysis and design for industrial systems and equipment supports. You will own structural design criteria and code compliance, develop initial layouts, size members, produce 2D/3D drawings, prepare material take-offs, and review vendor documents. The ideal candidate brings 6+ years of experience, strong knowledge of steel and building codes, and proficiency with AutoCAD and structural analysis tools. This role includes mentoring junior engineers, coordinating across disciplines, and occasional domestic/international travel.

How You'll Contribute

  • Own structural design, design criteria, and code compliance for complete structural systems and projects
  • Assist in initial structural layouts and beam sizing using prior experience
  • Prepare structural analysis and design for steel supports for conveyors, crushers, screens, tanks, pipes, equipment, and related foundations as appropriate
  • Develop and communicate structural details of connections; propose alternate framing solutions as required
  • Prepare design criteria including all relevant loads on the structure
  • Produce structural 2D and 3D drawings in CAD software
  • Prepare material take-offs and bills of material
  • Communicate structural information (member sizes, connections, welds) for drawings and specifications
  • Review vendor documents for structural components
  • Meet task and project time and budget goals; follow prescribed methods to complete assigned portions of broader projects
  • Adjust and correlate data, recognize discrepancies, and follow operations through related steps and processes
  • Review designs of other structural engineers for code and specification compliance
  • Suggest initial structural layouts to other disciplines and mentor interns/junior engineers

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Six or more years of related structural engineering experience
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in good standing desired, not required
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering desired, not required
  • Knowledge of mining and/or bulk material handling industries preferred
  • Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD (AutoCAD required; Advance Steel and SolidWorks desired but not required)
  • Experience with structural design software such as RISA-3D or similar
  • Developed understanding of relevant steel codes and building codes; ability to ensure code compliance
  • Ability to prepare structural design criteria, calculate loads, and perform structural analysis and design
  • Ability to generate clear structural details, member sizing, connection and weld information
  • Experience preparing material take-offs and bills of material; capability to assist with proposal estimates
  • Ability to review vendor documents for structural components
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and support specification/drawing preparation
  • Ability to sit for long periods, use computer for extended durations, and occasionally lift/move up to 20 pounds
  • Willingness to travel for projects domestically and internationally as required
  • Ability to work primarily in an office environment with moderate noise and occasional after-hours meetings/events
