Lead the full automation & controls scope on complex EPC projects—owning design through startup—so facilities in food, consumer products, pharma, life sciences, aerospace, and industrial markets run safely, reliably, and at scale.
Program & Leadership
Own all Automation & Controls scope across front-end, detailed design, construction, and startup.
Lead and mentor A&C engineers, specialists, and designers; coordinate with PM, electrical, estimating, procurement, construction, and other disciplines.
Enforce company/site safety policies; perform design quality reviews; manage offsite design office deliverables and reviews.
Controls & Software
Lead PLC/HMI software design (including Batch/MES, servers, virtualization); commission and start up control systems.
Prepare controls deliverables: instrument/device lists, I/O lists, control narratives, panel/hardware designs, device location plans, installation details.
Specify, design, and procure control panels and equipment; manage vendor progress and lead FATs.
Electrical Design
Prepare electrical deliverables for 480 VAC and below: motor power design, installation plans, conductor schedules.
Determine and specify process measurements (temperature, pressure, flow, level, analyzers, control valves) and select appropriate control technologies.
Process Integration & Documentation
Review P&IDs with process engineers to define controls scope.
Develop/verify calculations, studies, and reports; issue discipline change notices as needed.
Coordinate field issue resolution (RFIs, redlines), inspections, testing; lead onsite startup and commissioning.
Estimating, Budget & Client Interface
Build estimates at phase gates using tools (e.g., ProposalWorks, Integrated Architecture Builder, SIL Solver, Bluebeam, Excel, Visio).
Support PM with budget/progress tracking.
Work directly with clients/vendors; ensure satisfaction; grow relationships and opportunities.
BS in Electrical Engineering (ABET); MS a plus.
7–10+ years in automation/controls for EPC or industrial projects (food/CPG, pharma, life sciences, aerospace, industrial).
PE License required
Proven leadership of multi-disciplinary design and commissioning teams.
Expert in PLC/HMI design and commissioning; Batch/MES familiarity.
Strong electrical design for low-voltage power (≤480 VAC) and motor systems.
Skilled with instrumentation specification and control-valve selection.
Comfortable reading P&IDs and translating to controls scope.
Hands-on with estimating, vendor coordination, FATs, field support, and change management.
Quality, codes, and standards fluency; excellent client communication.
Tools & Technologies (nice to have)
Rockwell/Siemens PLC/HMI ecosystems; Batch/MES.
ETAP or SKM for studies; Bluebeam; Excel/Visio.
Virtualization/servers; SIL assessment tools.
Paid benefits and 401k
