We are seeking a seasoned and detail-oriented Property Management Controller to join our team. This role requires advanced expertise in financial reporting, compliance, and analysis, combined with the flexibility to manage daily accounting operations such as bookkeeping, transaction recording, and reconciliations. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and capable of handling both strategic accounting functions and routine financial tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate financial records, ensuring all transactions are properly documented in accordance with GAAP.
Prepare timely and accurate financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
Analyze financial data and prepare journal entries to ensure up-to-date records.
Assist in budget preparation and ongoing monitoring to ensure spending aligns with approved plans.
Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and support internal/external audits by providing necessary documentation and insights.
Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure data integrity.
Collaborate with management by providing financial updates, insights, and recommendations.
Support ad hoc tasks and special accounting projects as needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, including financial reporting and hands-on bookkeeping.
Strong understanding of GAAP and related accounting standards.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero); advanced Excel skills required.
Experience in corporate accounting with a focus on real estate or property management is required.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and organizational abilities; must be capable of working independently in a remote setting.
Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Willingness to perform both high-level accounting functions and routine bookkeeping tasks.
Preferred but not required: CPA license, experience in preparing tax returns, internal control implementation, leading/managing accounting teams, Yardi experience.
