Why This Role Matters

MissionHires is partnering with a leading aesthetic medical laser company to hire a Senior Electrical Engineer in Palo Alto, CA. In this hands-on role, you will lead electronic hardware design from concept through production for high-voltage, high-power medical laser systems, owning PCB design, embedded controls, power electronics, prototyping, and cross-functional integration/testing to meet stringent performance and regulatory requirements.

How You'll Contribute

  • Lead electronic hardware design from concept through production, including circuit simulation and analysis
  • Select electronic components for performance, availability, cost, and long-term obsolescence management
  • Design multilayer PCBs using Altium Designer
  • Develop and support ARM-based embedded controller solutions
  • Design system wiring harnesses and cables
  • Perform hardware/software integration, testing, and debugging
  • Support system-level compliance and regulatory testing activities
  • Build and debug prototypes, including SMD rework and lab troubleshooting
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams for product development and sustainment

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • BSEE required; 10–15+ years of hands-on electrical engineering experience
  • Extensive end-to-end product development lifecycle experience
  • Strong power electronics design with IGBTs and MOSFETs (high-power switching, motor control, switching supplies)
  • Switching power supply design expertise
  • Analog circuit design, including constant current sources and signal conditioning
  • Magnetic circuit and transformer design experience
  • Mixed-signal systems expertise (ADCs, DACs, microcontroller interfaces)
  • Proficiency with serial protocols: I2C, SPI, UART, and related buses
  • Operational amplifier circuit design (amplifiers, integrators, differentiators, instrumentation front ends)
  • Basic digital design and interfacing skills
  • Sensor and instrumentation experience (pyroelectric detectors, electro-optical sensors)
  • Robotics and motion systems experience, including motor control, control systems, and mechatronics
  • Strong hands-on experience with ARM-based embedded systems
  • Experience with high-voltage/high-power systems up to ~1000 V, 400 A, and 4 kW
  • Proven collaboration in cross-functional engineering environments
  • Strong written and verbal communication; project-oriented mindset
  • Medical aesthetics or medical device industry experience strongly preferred
  • Onsite role in Palo Alto, California
