Employment type: Full-time
Salary: $4,500 - $6,500 per month

About the Role:
We're seeking two experienced, self-sufficient Senior Back-End Engineers to join our LatAm-based team working on Gemini — our analytics and operations platform built for healthcare organizations.
You'll be joining a small pod (currently a Product Manager and a Product Designer) to build Gemini Regulatory from the ground up — a new vertical within the Gemini ecosystem focused on compliance and inspection readiness. The platform guides healthcare facilities on regulatory expectations, ensures proper documentation and preparedness, and increases transparency across facilities and oversight bodies.
As one of the first two engineers on this vertical, you'll design its architecture and set the technical foundation, while building on the shared infrastructure, auth, and conventions already established across Gemini. Front-end and QA will follow within weeks — your early work will define the contracts they build against.
Beyond Regulatory, you'll contribute across the broader Gemini platform and codebase.
Key Responsibilities:
Foundation & architecture: Design and establish the back-end infrastructure for a new product vertical, making key architectural decisions that define how it scales within our existing platform.
Feature development: Build and maintain core platform features in close collaboration with the PM and PD.
Codebase ownership: Deliver clean, reliable, well-tested code and set standards for the new vertical from day one.
Schema & data design: Own database design and migrations for the Regulatory vertical.
Third-party integrations: Connect the platform with regulatory data sources, external APIs, and compliance-related services — including rate limiting, error handling, and data transformation.
Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with a small, fast-moving pod and communicate clearly with our broader international engineering team.
What You Bring:
1) Hard Skills:
5+ years of back-end development experience, with strong proficiency in Python
Experience building RESTful APIs with FastAPI / Pydantic
PostgreSQL and SQLAlchemy (including async patterns)
Hands-on experience deploying applications to AWS
Familiarity with Docker and containerized local development
Experience with monitoring and logging tools for production systems
Experience with infrastructure management (e.g., Terraform)
Familiarity with Airflow
Bonus: Experience with dbt or Redis
Bonus: Experience building products in regulated industries (healthcare, compliance, legal, fintech)
Bonus: Knowledge of healthcare regulatory frameworks (CMS, Medicare/Medicaid, state inspection bodies, etc.)
Bonus: Experience integrating Machine Learning / AI models into back-end systems
Bonus: Knowledge of insurance
2) Soft Skills:
Initiative & Independence: Comfortable operating in ambiguity, making decisions without a full roadmap, and driving projects forward from zero.
Ownership: Strong sense of accountability - you treat the product like it's yours.
Communication: Fluency in English, with the ability to collaborate in a distributed, global team.
Curiosity: You ask the right questions, understand why things are built, and care about the problem, not just the ticket.
3) Logistics:
Open to working 9 am to 6 pm EST and more if needed.
Based in a Latin American country.
Why Join Us:
Fully remote team across 9 North & South American countries.
