Why This Role Matters

MissionHires is seeking a Manual QA Tester on behalf of a Mexico-based software development company. The ideal candidate has a systems engineering or technical computing background and strong grounding in web application testing, version control, and QA best practices. You will collaborate closely with developers and stakeholders to design test cases, execute manual tests, validate APIs and web apps, document defects, and contribute to quality across the SDLC.

How You'll Contribute

  • Design, execute, and document manual test cases for web applications, APIs, and system components
  • Validate functionality across ASP.NET MVC/Core, WebForms, and RESTful Web APIs
  • Perform functional, integration, regression, and smoke testing
  • Identify, document, and track defects with clear reproduction steps and severity
  • Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Contribute to test planning, test data preparation, and coverage improvement
  • Leverage version control (Git) to manage test assets and collaborate with the team
  • Review and understand unit tests (xUnit, NUnit, MSTest) and TDD outputs to inform test strategy
  • Apply QA best practices, including OOP/SOLID/design pattern awareness, to improve test design
  • Assess basic security considerations in web applications during testing
  • Report test results and quality risks; help prioritize fixes based on impact
  • Continuously learn and adapt to new tools, frameworks, and project needs

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Degree or technical diploma in Systems Engineering or a related computing field
  • Experience testing web applications and APIs in .NET environments
  • Familiarity with C# or VB.NET and frameworks such as ASP.NET MVC and ASP.NET Core
  • Understanding of WebForms and RESTful Web APIs
  • Basic database skills with one or more: SQL Server, MySQL, or MongoDB (queries, data validation)
  • Proficiency with Git and platforms like GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket
  • Comfort with development environments: Visual Studio and/or VS Code
  • Exposure to unit testing frameworks (xUnit, NUnit, MSTest) and concepts like TDD and integration testing
  • Knowledge of QA fundamentals: test case design, defect lifecycle, regression testing, and basic automation concepts
  • Awareness of OOP, SOLID principles, common design patterns, and web app security basics
