This full-time role places Nurse Practitioners in a leadership position as the Most Responsible Health Care Provider (MRP), offering a rare opportunity to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care in a highly collaborative and supportive environment.

How You'll Contribute

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Act as the primary healthcare provider for patients in transitional care.
  • Independently assess, diagnose, prescribe, and treat within your legislated scope.
  • Lead clinical teams on-site, providing direct supervision and clinical expertise.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including restorative care professionals, nurses, and allied health staff.
  • Create care plans aligned with patient and family goals to help patients return home or to their communities.

Work Schedule & Setting:

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 08:00-16:00
  • Patient Load: Approximately 22-23 patients per NP
  • Team: 3 NPs currently on staff, 4 new roles being added
  • On-Call: No on-call requirement at this time
  • Overtime: Paid as per the NSNU Collective Agreement
  • Other Premiums: Shift premiums and other benefits outlined in the NSNU Collective Agreement

What Makes You a Great Fit

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master's Degree in Nursing with Nurse Practitioner Certification.
  • Licensure: Eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing.
  • Experience: 2-3 years as a Nurse Practitioner preferred (acute or rehabilitative care ideal).
  • Practice Setting: Must be comfortable with hands-on care in an on-site setting.
  • Note: Candidates with Pediatric NP backgrounds cannot be considered due to licensing limitations.
