Why This Role Matters
We are seeking a VMware Engineer to design, implement, and maintain our virtual infrastructure across our Richmond-area data centers and cloud environments. This position ensures high availability, performance, and security of VMware vSphere/ESXi environments supporting mission-critical workloads.
How You'll Contribute
Deploy, configure, and manage VMware vSphere, ESXi hosts, and vCenter environments
Monitor and optimize performance of virtual machines, clusters, and storage
Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and replication strategies (e.g., vSphere Replication, SRM)
Apply patches, upgrades, and security hardening in compliance with company standards
Troubleshoot virtualization issues (networking, storage, compute) and drive root cause analysis
Collaborate with Windows/Linux, Network, and Security teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
Create and maintain documentation: topology diagrams, runbooks, and SOPs
Contribute to capacity planning and virtualization roadmap (hybrid cloud, DR, automation)
What Makes You a Great Fit
Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi and vCenter
Knowledge of storage technologies (SAN, NAS, vSAN) and networking (vDS, VLANs)
Familiarity with scripting/automation (PowerCLI, PowerShell, Ansible)
Understanding of backup/DR tools (Veeam, Zerto, SRM)
Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills
Excellent communication and documentation skills
