Why This Role Matters

MissionHires is looking for a Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer on behalf of a fast-growing technology company building a high-precision positioning platform for real-time human-machine interaction. In this role, you will own and evolve low-level, bare-metal firmware for next-generation embedded platforms used in medical devices, robotics, and Physical AI applications. This is an opportunity to solve challenging hardware-near engineering problems, influence firmware architecture and standards, and make a direct impact on shipped products in a collaborative, high-growth environment.

02
How You'll Contribute
  • Own the low-level firmware architecture for next-generation embedded platforms.
  • Develop highly optimized bare-metal firmware in Embedded C for ARM-based microcontrollers.
  • Build firmware that interfaces directly with custom hardware and supports ultra-low-latency, deterministic system behavior.
  • Configure and integrate hardware peripherals and interfaces including SPI, I²C, UART, GPIO, timers, interrupts, DMA, ADCs, and other communication peripherals.
  • Partner closely with electrical engineers during board bring-up, hardware validation, debugging, and prototype development.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware/software integration issues.
  • Optimize firmware for performance, memory utilization, reliability, and resource-constrained operation.
  • Help define scalable firmware architecture, coding standards, engineering practices, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate across electrical, mechanical, software, product, and other engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Contribute technical leadership and, where applicable, mentor junior firmware engineers.
03
What Makes You a Great Fit
  • Senior-level embedded firmware development experience.
  • Strong Embedded C programming skills; C++ experience is beneficial.
  • Extensive experience developing firmware for ARM microcontrollers.
  • Strong bare-metal, no-OS firmware development experience.
  • Deep understanding of microcontroller architecture, hardware peripherals, interrupts, DMA, and low-level system behavior.
  • Experience configuring SPI, I²C, UART, GPIO, timers, ADCs, interrupts, DMA, and communication peripherals.
  • Experience developing optimized, resource-constrained embedded systems.
  • Strong hardware/software debugging and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to work directly with electrical engineers during board bring-up and validation.
  • Experience optimizing firmware for performance, memory usage, and deterministic behavior.
  • Ability to work independently and take significant technical ownership.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for complex embedded systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • RTOS experience is desired.
  • Embedded Linux exposure is desired.
  • Experience with hardware abstraction layers, scalable firmware architecture, and embedded CI/CD practices is desired.
  • Experience with Git and internal engineering tool development is desired.
  • Knowledge of USB, CAN, Ethernet, BLE, or related communication protocols is desired.
  • Experience in medical devices, robotics, industrial automation, or Physical AI is desired.
  • Experience in a startup or fast-paced product development environment is desired.
  • Experience collaborating with firmware, hardware, cloud, and application software teams is desired.
  • Strong technical documentation and mentoring skills are desired.
04
Perks & Benefits
  • Competitive annual salary of $120,000 to $160,000.
  • Full-time, direct-hire opportunity.
  • Hybrid work arrangement.
  • Meaningful technical ownership and direct influence on product architecture, coding standards, and future product direction.
  • Opportunity to work on proprietary technology with real-world applications in medical devices, robotics, and Physical AI.
  • Collaborative engineering culture with minimal bureaucracy and rapid decision-making.
