We are seeking an Electrical & Controls Engineer II to support a large, complex manufacturing operation that runs 24/7. This role is focused heavily on controls engineering, automation reliability, and performance improvement rather than routine maintenance. The engineer will play a key role in both day-to-day plant support and longer-term capital and upgrade projects.
This position offers the opportunity to make a measurable impact on plant performance, safety, and automation capability while working closely with electricians, supervisors, and engineering leadership.
Lead improvements that enhance electrical and controls system reliability and reduce unplanned downtime
Troubleshoot and resolve complex PLC, HMI, VFD, and networked control system issues
Perform root-cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions
Independently manage full lifecycle engineering projects, including scope development, justification, execution, and closeout
Develop and maintain engineering documentation such as schematics, specifications, cost estimates, and commissioning plans
Coordinate and oversee vendors, contractors, and external engineering resources
Support plant electrical safety initiatives and compliance with NFPA 70E and internal engineering standards
Implement controls upgrades, including replacement of obsolete drives and control systems
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to electricians and junior technical staff
Communicate project status, risks, and performance improvements to plant leadership
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
Minimum 3 years of electrical/controls engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Strong hands-on experience with PLC, VFD, and HMI programming (Allen-Bradley preferred)
Experience supporting continuous operations (24/7 manufacturing environments)
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and project management skills
