Why This Role Matters

We are seeking an Electrical & Controls Engineer II to support a large, complex manufacturing operation that runs 24/7. This role is focused heavily on controls engineering, automation reliability, and performance improvement rather than routine maintenance. The engineer will play a key role in both day-to-day plant support and longer-term capital and upgrade projects.

This position offers the opportunity to make a measurable impact on plant performance, safety, and automation capability while working closely with electricians, supervisors, and engineering leadership.

How You'll Contribute

  • Lead improvements that enhance electrical and controls system reliability and reduce unplanned downtime

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex PLC, HMI, VFD, and networked control system issues

  • Perform root-cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions

  • Independently manage full lifecycle engineering projects, including scope development, justification, execution, and closeout

  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation such as schematics, specifications, cost estimates, and commissioning plans

  • Coordinate and oversee vendors, contractors, and external engineering resources

  • Support plant electrical safety initiatives and compliance with NFPA 70E and internal engineering standards

  • Implement controls upgrades, including replacement of obsolete drives and control systems

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to electricians and junior technical staff

  • Communicate project status, risks, and performance improvements to plant leadership

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology

  • Minimum 3 years of electrical/controls engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

  • Strong hands-on experience with PLC, VFD, and HMI programming (Allen-Bradley preferred)

  • Experience supporting continuous operations (24/7 manufacturing environments)

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and project management skills
