MissionHires is hiring a Director of Finance for our client to lead cost-focused financial strategy and operations. The role centers on cost accounting (standard costs, manufacturing costs, and variance analysis), budgeting/forecasting, month-end reporting, GAAP compliance, and cross-functional partnership to improve profitability, processes, and internal controls. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of cost accounting experience (manufacturing preferred), strong analytical rigor, and the ability to translate financial insights into operational impact.

How You'll Contribute

  • Lead financial strategy, annual budgeting, and forecasting cycles
  • Own and optimize cost accounting processes, including standard costing, manufacturing cost tracking, and variance analysis
  • Oversee month-end close, P&L review, and preparation of accurate financial statements
  • Deliver detailed cost and margin analysis to inform executive decision-making and profitability initiatives
  • Develop, document, and enforce financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Partner with operations, purchasing, and supply chain to ensure cost accuracy and data integrity
  • Identify and implement process improvements across accounting workflows and controls
  • Manage external audits and ensure ongoing GAAP compliance
  • Communicate financial insights, risks, and opportunities to executive leadership

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of cost accounting experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong command of GAAP and cost accounting principles (standard costing, variances, inventory/cost of goods)
  • Proficiency with financial reporting and accounting software/ERP systems
  • Proven ability to deliver accurate analysis and measurable results in a hands-on capacity
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across operations, supply chain, and executive teams
  • Experience managing month-end close, P&L reviews, and audit processes
  • Track record of process improvement and strengthening internal controls
  • Strategic thinker with strong attention to detail and business acumen
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. and willingness to work cross-functionally in a collaborative environment
