CMT / Geotechnical Civil Engineer - Relocation Available - Fredericksburg, Virginia

MissionHires is hiring an Assistant Engineering Branch Manager to lead and grow a geotechnical and construction materials testing (CMT) practice in Fredericksburg, VA. This leadership role oversees project delivery, team development, client relations, and business development while producing senior-level geotechnical reports. Ideal candidates bring 10–15 years of technical and managerial experience, a PE license, and a track record in geotechnical/CMT operations and team leadership.

• Build and lead a high-performing engineering team across geotechnical and CMT disciplines
• Manage geotechnical and CMT staff workload, performance, and project execution
• Oversee quality assurance and efficiency of project delivery from planning through closeout
• Review and prepare senior-level geotechnical engineering reports
• Provide mentorship, coaching, and technical guidance to junior staff
• Drive business development and expand client relationships in the Fredericksburg market
• Support marketing efforts and proposal development to win new work
• Foster a collaborative, growth-oriented culture aligned with MissionHires’ values

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program
• 10–15 years of combined technical and managerial experience
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Demonstrated expertise in geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing (CMT)
• Proven experience leading teams and delivering projects with quality and efficiency
• Track record of business development and client relationship growth
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparation and review of senior-level reports
• Background in military projects or experience working with military clients preferred
