Why This Role Matters

MissionHires is partnering with a fast-growing, Florida-based civil and environmental engineering firm to hire a full-time Civil/Environmental Engineer (PE) with 8–15 years of experience. This role offers a unique path to grow into Technical Lead, Project Manager, and Client Services Manager while working directly with the firm's President on innovative OneWater initiatives, pilot studies, design, asset management, and design-build projects across Sarasota / Lakewood Ranch / Tampa, FL.

How You'll Contribute

  • Prepare and/or oversee engineering calculations, AutoCAD 3D designs, assessments, studies, master plans, models, construction drawings, specifications, permit applications, and technical reports
  • Serve as Project Manager or Technical Lead depending on project scale and complexity
  • Lead pilot studies, technical reports, GIS/CADD/modeling activities, construction engineering and inspection (CEI) services, and stakeholder outreach
  • Support business development efforts including proposals, presentations, project schedules, budgets, and cost evaluations
  • Research and evaluate innovative technologies, regulations, and methods relevant to OneWater, sustainable design, and smart utilities
  • Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, vendors, and internal teams to ensure quality and timely delivery
  • Contribute to development of best practices and decision support tools, including AI-enabled and collaborative delivery approaches
  • Participate in asset management, CMOM, and smart utility consulting initiatives
  • Occasional travel within Southwest to West Central Florida for site visits, pilots, and client meetings

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (required)
  • At least six (6) years of engineering experience (8–15 years preferred for growth into leadership roles)
  • Active Florida PE license or ability to obtain within 4 months
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated project management experience
  • Ability to oversee and mentor support staff including engineers and CADD designers
  • Experience with AutoCAD 3D, GIS, hydraulic/modeling tools, and database management (preferred)
  • Master’s degree in water/wastewater, water resources, or site development (preferred)
  • Prior project management experience or formal training (preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license with excellent driving record
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Resident Alien (Green Card)
  • Willingness to complete pre-employment background check and drug test
