Our client, a school dedicated to supporting children with disabilities, is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for their Queens, NY location.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment: Assisting the occupational therapist in evaluating a patient's functional abilities and needs.
Treatment Implementation: Carrying out treatment plans designed by the occupational therapist, including leading therapeutic activities like exercises to improve motor skills, sensory integration activities, and self-care training.
Adaptive Equipment Training: Teaching patients how to use assistive devices to enhance their independence in daily tasks.
Progress Monitoring: Closely observing progress during therapy sessions, documenting observations and changes in function, and reporting findings to the occupational therapist.
Patient Education: Instructing patients and their caregivers on proper techniques for completing daily activities and home exercise programs
Job Requirements:
Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assisting from an accredited program
Valid New York state licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
