MissionHires is partnering with a leading healthcare organization to hire a Director of Benefits based in Houston, TX. This senior leader will own the strategy, design, execution, and continuous improvement of comprehensive health, welfare, and retirement programs. The role oversees compliance, vendor management, HRIS enablement, benefit communications, and a team of benefits professionals while aligning total rewards with organizational goals. Bonus eligibility: 20–30%. No visa sponsorship available.

How You'll Contribute

  • Lead strategy, design, implementation, and administration of health, welfare, and retirement benefit programs
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, and applicable federal/state regulations
  • Own vendor relationships (consultants, brokers, actuaries, TPAs) and manage contract performance
  • Partner with HR leadership to align benefits with Total Rewards and organizational objectives
  • Continuously evaluate market competitiveness, cost-effectiveness, and employee value of offerings
  • Develop, track, and report metrics to measure program effectiveness and ROI
  • Collaborate with HRIS and IT to optimize systems, automation, and employee benefits experience
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the benefits team; serve as escalation point for complex issues
  • Drive process improvements and operational excellence across benefits administration
  • Develop and execute benefits communication strategies to improve employee understanding and engagement

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 10+ years managing benefits programs, including design, implementation, and compliance
  • Direct experience within a healthcare environment
  • Expert knowledge of retirement plans (401(k), pension, 403(b)) and health & welfare programs
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and driving strategic initiatives
  • Experience working with HRIS systems
  • Preferred: Master’s degree and/or CEBS, CBP certifications
  • Preferred: Experience developing wellness programs
  • Preferred: Exposure to value-based or alternative healthcare benefit models
