Title: Assistant Nurse Manager - NICU (FT)

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Assistant Nurse Manager to join a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in a Southern California acute care facility. This leadership role is essential in ensuring optimal patient outcomes and operational excellence in a high-acuity, Level III or higher NICU setting. This is an afternoon leadership role (12:00pm - 8:30pm), responsible for helping oversee daily operations, managing clinical workflows, and mentoring nursing staff to deliver safe, high-quality neonatal care.

How You'll Contribute

  • Oversee daily team operations, assign staff appropriately, and ensure clinical resources are utilized effectively.
  • Support evidence-based practice implementation and interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure care quality across the continuum.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, regulatory readiness, and compliance with safety protocols.
  • Lead and mentor staff, provide feedback, identify development opportunities, and drive team engagement.
  • Handle escalated concerns related to patient care while maintaining a patient- and family-centered approach.
  • Assist in staffing, productivity tracking, and performance management.
  • Uphold clinical excellence by staying current with best practices, ensuring ongoing staff training, and promoting safe care environments.

What Makes You a Great Fit

Required Qualifications:

  • BSN or MSN degree
  • Active California Registered Nurse License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at hire
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • RNC-NIC (Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing) required within 6 months of hire
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent RN experience in a Level III or higher NICU
  • At least 1 year of leadership experience in an official capacity (e.g., Charge Nurse, Supervisor, Clinical Coordinator, Assistant Nurse Manager)
  • Experience in an acute care hospital

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing unionized staff
  • Excellent communication and team leadership skills
